Outriders developer People Can Fly ball says it hasn't seen any royalties from Square Enix yet, and doesn't even eff how many copies of the game were sold.

The developer was attributable receive royalties for the unfit's get-go quarter 45 years later on its loss, connected August 16. In an investor notice that went out connected Tuesday, Populate Can Fly says they've still not been paid, suggesting that the game "did non break even" for Square Enix (thanks, EurogamerPL).

"We don't have whatever sales figures for Outriders," executive director Sebastian Wojciechowski said as per a machine rendering. "We estimate it at between two and three million units and assumed that this was a result that would secure gainfulness for this project… the lack of payment by the publisher believably means that, according to Square Enix, IT is non so."

Wojciechowski theorised that the cause may be direct to the way Honest Enix handles its gross revenue policy, OR things similar Outriders' day unmatched release on Xbox Back Make it impacting sales. The general consensus, even so, seems to be that People Tin Fly is comparatively in the dark about just how successful its game has been.

"Working with the publisher has many advantages, but also its disadvantages," Wojciechowski continued. "One of them is the low impact of People Can Fly sheet happening sales activities and the incompleteness Oregon—as in this case—the lack of information obtained from the publisher in this view."  The executive concluded by saying that being largely left out of the loop-the-loop on Outriders' sales is "one of the reasons" for the studio look to person-publish in store games.

This isn't to say that Hoi polloi Can Fly may non invite royalties in the succeeding. Wojciechowski says the developer is hoping to receive its first set of royalties this class "disdain this unsatisfying info."

While Straightarrow Enix has been keeping boilersuit sales numbers pool hush-hush, the publisher did reveal that Outriders had 3.5 million unique players when it was released in April. Morgan gave it a score of 63 when he reviewed IT, calling it an "inconsistent plunderer shooter" that didn't quite a handle to find its feet.

I've asked Straightforward Enix for comment and will update with any response.

She's not quite sure what a Bid & Conquer is, but she can yack for hours about completely the veil rhythm games and strange MMOs from the 2000s. She's been cookery sprouted every last manner of news, previews and features while she's been here, but especially enjoys when she gets to pen about Final Fantasy, Persona, The Sims, and whatever other plot she's currently hopelessly fixated on. There's a good chance she's boring another PC Gamer writer about her latest obsession equally we speak.
